Chairpersons Needed ASAP for 2014-2015 School Year

 VolunteerDear Commerce Families,

Commerce Elementary PTA sponsors several fun events as well as educational programs at our school every year.  In order to keep these events and programs going, we need volunteer help.

We are looking for people to chair the events/programs listed below, as well as fill Committee Head positions for certain events.

Please take a moment to look at what is listed here and consider becoming a Chairperson or Committee Head for one (or more), of these events/programs.  We have very detailed notes and instructions for you to follow if you choose to chair an event/program, and Event Coordinator who will work with you, so it is really quite easy to put together one of these programs/events!

Welcome Back PicnicWe have a Chair Person for this.  We are looking for one more person to co-chair this event.  Welcome our new incoming Commerce students and families, as well as our returning families for the new 2014-2015 school year!  Run and organize this fun and popular event.

Enrichment Programs Two Chair People are needed. Curriculum has already been created for this program, which is an optional program for children in grades 2 – 5.  Children enrolled learn about subjects from States and Capitals, to how to create their own business plan/product and how to market and sell that item.  We need at least two volunteers (for each class), to teach the curriculum for the above mentioned grade levels and handle the scheduling for teaching the class (if we have more volunteer teachers).  If we do not get enough volunteers or a chair person for this program, we will cancel it.

Talent Show – One Chair Person needed. Help Mrs. Bean plan the talent show, work with the children, help organize the auditions, etc.

Fall FairWe have one Chair Person for this.  We need two more Chair People to help.

  • Haunted Hallway Committee Head (plus 4 – 5 adult volunteers to set up hallway)
  • Carnival Games Committee Head (plus 15 – 16 adult volunteers to help run games, set up, clean up)
  • Prizes Committee Head (plus 2 – 3 volunteers to help organize and hand out prizes)
  • We are also in need of donations for our Silent Auction.

Showcase – We have a Chairperson for this, but would like 2 – 3 people to help her with decorating the PTA Bulletin Board, as well as help to come up with ideas and decorate the front Showcase each month.

Kids in Charge Two Chair People are needed.  We need 2 people for each class (3 – 5), to be the “go-to” people for that class.  You will help schedule the volunteer teachers, fill in when/if needed, and work with the Chairperson to make this program the best it can be for our students.

Bagel Day We have a Chairperson for this program.  We need 2 – 3 volunteers to help bag and distribute the bagels on Bagel Day once, sometimes twice, per month, and one person to help the Chairperson count money a couple days prior to Bagel Day.

Inkjet Cartridges One Chair Person is needed.  Collect the cartridges turned in by Commerce families and take them to either Office Depot or Staples to try to obtain discounts on paper/office supplies.

Reflections – One or Two Chair People are needed.  Help Commerce families/students learn how to submit artwork, poems, stories, music composition pieces, choreography, and more to the WLCS District Reflections contest.  Many of our talented students have received ribbons and some have gone on to the state level to win there, as well.

Spring Fling Two Chair People are needed.  Similar to the Welcome Back Picnic, you will plan and organize this fun event attended by many of our Commerce families.

We are always looking for volunteers to help work at events, as well.  Below is a list of some other PTA events scheduled thus far for our 2013 –2014 school year.  We hope to get more people involved next year helping out at our events.  We cannot do it without your help!

Hello Commerce Families! We hope everyone had a great weekend. A couple notes for the week:

-During the Book Fair, students are encouraged to participate in our All for Books fundraiser with a twist! Students are asked to donate their Book Fair change to purchase more books for our library. This year we have 2 jars, a fairy and a wizard jar. If we reach our goal of $800 Ms. Carlin will dress up as a fairy or a wizard – whichever jar has the most money!

-Our pavilion picnic table fundraiser is 75% to our goal and we need your support! Teachers and students alike have greatly enjoyed our new pavilion! We need to raise more funds to finish paying for it! Please consider supporting this project with a donation of any size.
Supporters will be recognized with a permanent sign at the pavilion. For information, contact Shayna Levin

-Missing a sock, hat or glove? The lost and found is full of sad and lonely articles of clothing. Please stop by and see if something belongs to your student(s).

-Reminder that Thursday is a half day for parent-teacher conferences. Dismissal is at 11:09am. (The book fair will be open!)
